Julie & Ivan's Wedding 07/23/11

The evening of July 23, 2011 marked a very special night for two extremely excited individuals. It was the night Julie Van Vossen and Ivan Lopez would share their vows and pronounce their love and commitment to each other, becoming a unified “Mr. & Mrs. Lopez.”

This event took place at the beautiful Marriott Beachside Resort located on the island of Key West, off the coast of South Florida. Following the ceremony, as five p.m. struck the clock, the party of newlyweds, family, and friends moved outside to the Marriott's terrace to enjoy the warm summer's evening weather for cocktail hour, hosted by yours truly, DJ Mike Berrios of MB Entertainment (www.mbentdjs.com). Those who weren't such a fan of the heat were able to mingle inside the foyer with the comfort of the refreshing a.c. As the guest were able to enjoy a variety of delicious beverages and give their congratulations to the bride and groom, a combination of contemporary hits and 80's throwbacks sang through the speakers to provide a light, upbeat vibe to the hour.

As cocktail hour flew by, and six 'o clock rolled around, it was time to move the party to the ballroom. The introductions came as followed:

Ushers: “Don't Happen Twice” by Kenny Chesney

Rest of the Wedding Party: “I Got a Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas

Newlyweds: “Welcome to the Jungle” By Guns and Roses

The newlyweds introduction was immediately followed by their fast dance, where their movements melted together as they glided together through the center of the floor to “Because of Your Love” by Kenny Chesney. After their first dance together as an officially married couple, the newlyweds received a blessing from Ivan's father, followed by a toast from Ivan's best man and Julie's maid of honor. A deliciously prepared meal of marinated beef and chicken, cooked to absolute perfection, was served following the toasts, and the guest were able to laugh, chat, and fill their stomachs. Vendor meals were also provided to myself, the photographers, and videographers. I would like to give my personal thanks and compliments to the chef, as the meal was incredible.

As everyone finished their meals, happy and full, it was officially time to crank up the volume and get the party started. Beginning with the special personalized dances, and ending with the whole party moving and grooving to the beat, the playlist included the following:

Father/Daughter Dance: “In Your Daughter's Eyes” by Martina McBride

Mother/Son Dance: “Like My Mother Does” by Lauren Alaina

Cutting of the Cake: “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor

Contempary Hits: “Give Me Everything” by Pitbull, “Get on the Floor” by Jennifer Lopez, “Raise Your Glass” by Pink, Etc.

80's Set: “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “Jessie's Girl” by Rick Springfield, “Love Shack” by B-52'S, Etc.

Bridesmaids performed to “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips.

Closing Song: “Time of Your Life” by Green Day

This concluded an absolutely amazing evening, for an even more, incredibly beautiful wedding. I would like to give a special congratulations to the newlyweds, Julie and Ivan, wishing you both the best in your marriage, and a life of success and happiness together. Also I would like to give a shout out to Ileana and her crew for being able to help pull together such a fabulous event for these two on their wedding night, as well as give my thanks to the Van Vossen and Lopez families for selecting my services and providing me accommodations . Thank you for choosing MB Entertainment! Www.mbentdjs.com

Wedding at the Southernmost Beach Key West

It was absolutely awesome afternoon and evening, at the very beautiful Southernmost Beach Resort, in Key West Florida. Upon arrival we met with Melissa Shaffer, catering director of the property. The staff was extremely helpful in pointing out the setup or MB Entertainment in our equipment. The wedding took place on the beach and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The Southernmost staff cleared the beach as well as the passage across the area for the entire evening, it was like having a private beach in Key West all to yourself. The set up as pictured was for approximately 80 guests.

Ceremony Selections:

Prelude music included steel drums, and right before the wedding party Jack Johnson's "Better Together"

The bridesmaids entrance: Arioso

Melissa's Processional: Over the Rainbow by IZ

The Recessional: I'm yours by Jason Mraz

Cocktail hour immediately followed this wedding party and family went for pictures.

Cocktail Hour Music: Caribbean music - the kind of music to run your toes in the sand. Key West Cigar Club and Smoke Shop was hired and rolled cigars from cocktail hour through the end of dinner. The introductions followed as we introduced both sets of parents, the entire wedding party, and our guests of honor.

Introduction Music:

Parents: Praise You by Fat Boy Slim

Wedding Party: Motown Philly by Boyz II Men

Newlyweds: Streetfighting Man by Rage Against the Machine

Anthony and Melissa went right into their first dance, Crazy Love by Van Morrison

The dinner was Buffet style with a Caribbean/Latin flair. There was Paella, roasted pork, grilled fish, grilled chicken, steamed veggies and black beans. As all outdoors and Southernmost put forth a beautiful display.

Musical highlights of the evening included a special dedication to Anthony's stepdad, it was his birthday, and they had a specialty cake made just for him. Just before the newlyweds cake cutting, the beginning "In da Club" by 50 Cent where it says "It's your Birthday" was looped, I followed with "Birthday" by the Beatles and he blew out his candles. It was then time for the newlyweds to cut the cake. This was destined to be absolutely smashing! The song they selected was "Hit me with your best shot" by Pat Benetar, I guess you can figure out what happened next!

Throughout the night everybody dance to a lot of the old school type music sprinkled with some of today's top songs. All in all the wedding was an absolute success thanks to Melissa and her staff at Southernmost. Thank you for all your help!

Closing Song: Kings of Leon - Use Somebody

What an amazing weekend post 3

The third event in 24-hours! This was a big one of the weekend, Billy and Michelle's wedding at the Marriott Beachside Resort in Key West. 350+ attendees, included a who's who of Key West elite, including sports celebrities, cheerleaders past and present, and the owner of the Marriott Beachside Resort!

The doors were scheduled to open at 9:15 PM to allow the guests to find their seats. The doors opened as scheduled, the guests entered to an upbeat version of "Satin Doll" from the Bobby Morganstein collection (thank you Bobby), this is probably the best version of this song. Then at 9:30 PM we played a montage of video on the Marriott's huge 15 foot screen, it included pictures of both Billy and Michelle growing up, and their relationship once they met. It even included a personal message from gator quarterback Tim Tebow! Then it was time for the introductions.

Wedding party over 20 came into Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and then the stars of the show Michelle and Billy, they came into the University of Florida Gator fight song! Then we went right into the first dance.

First Dance: Me and You by Kenny Chesney

Bride/Father Dance: I Love Her First by Heartland
Groom/Mother Dance: Beautiful Boy by John Lennon
Last Song: Go Gators!

This party was set up for dinner with stations around the room and two bars one inside and one in the lobby. There was a photo booth for guests to take pictures for memory book.

I had the pleasure of working with:

This party kicked off in the very beginning! When dance music was played immediately following the first dance and we didn't stop until 2 AM! A full hour of overtime and a full dance floor! MB Entertainment does it again!

We will talk to you at the next blog... BIZ BASH is coming up!!!

What an amazing weekend post 2

Wow, Post number two of an amazing weekend. After playing in our own overtime and Coconut Cove resort, it was back to the hotel for some rest. A big thank you to Priceline.com for accommodations at the Hampton Inn Key Largo. Woke up early and got moving to beautiful Hawk's Cay Resort for a corporate event for Johnson and Johnson. This was quite a shindig as we were to play for four hours of R&R on a secluded beach and island owned by Hawk's Cay. Our gear was loaded on the boat and off we went. Due to low tide the gear had to be carried overhead by hand about 60 yards from the boat to the beach. Once set up we played island music and also brought bongos to add a little flavor. The special song of the afternoon had to be the Gilligan's Island theme... Just sit right back and I'll tell you a tale... a great time was had by all special thanks to Hawk's Cay and their staff a great time was had by all. We have been asked back to do a similar event on May 22... can't wait! Now we get in the car and drive down to Key West to the Marriott Beachside resort and that's the next post...

What an amazing weekend post 1

This past weekend started Friday night April 23, with an awesome wedding at Coconut Cove resort in Islamorada. Steel drums filled the air as Bob Lyons played the prelude and the ceremony. Bob also played through cocktail hour. MB Entertainment and yours truly took over as cocktail hour was winding up. Kim and Mike's cocktail hour had a true tropical feel, including selections by Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley,Jimmy Buffet, and Jason Mraz.

First Dance: Elvis Presley-Can't Help Falling in Love
Bride/Father Dance: Heartland-I love her first
Groom/Mother Dance: Celine Dion-Because You Loved Me

Dance party and dance music selections were everything from old-school hip-hop to the latest From Lady Gaga.

Paul and Magda always put their clients first, and this is what makes Coconut Cove Resort one of the top destination wedding locations in the world.

The wedding ceremony will take place at the Casino Mound, with the cocktail reception to follow on the terrace. The dinner and dancing will be moved inside due to the temperature dipping into the 40's. I am looking forward to "Rockin' Vizcaya hard tonight!" Talk to you all tomorrow!

Jan 9th - Alexander Hotel Miami Beach

Wedding at the Alexander Hotel on Miami Beach

Wedding reception for Patty and Paul. The night started with cocktail hour in the upstairs Alexander Hotel lobby and sitting area. The music of choice for cocktail hour by our newlyweds was chill/lounge house music.

The guest of then moved to the banquet room for dinner and dancing. This day we had the privilege of working with Shawnti from the Alexander Hotel, and one of South Florida's best photographers Andy Itkoff.

All the dancing was left for after dinner. The dinner presentation was flawless with a choice of fillet, chicken, or salmon. The Alexander staff and hotel did not fail to impress.

Music selections:

Music for intro: I got a feeling by the Black Eyed Peas

Music for bride and groom intro: Lenny Kravitz - I belong to you

Music for First Dance: Always by Atlantic Starr

Music for bride/father: I loved her first

Other notable selections:
Cake Cutting-Say Hey by Michael Franti
Garter Removal: Sexy Chick by David Guetta

We also played a polka medley at Patty's request Patty's parents and a bunch of the guest absolutely loved it!

Though was chilly and rainy outside that did not stop the fun, and fire created on the dance floor. Everyone had an amazing time and be entertainment was proud to be a part of another beautiful celebration.

We wish both Patty and Paul very happy and long life together... The two of you deserve it!

The dance floors relocated to the area right next to the dinner tent. It was decided so the people dancing would have some kind of protection from the wind blowing off the Gulf of Mexico. MB entertainment provided music for the ceremony as well as cocktail. Hot hors d’oeuvres were passed during cocktail hour by the staff from Caribbean catering. Hors d’oeuvres included shrimp, bacon wrapped scallop and chicken. During dinner to chefs created pasta dishes for the guests at their request with a variety of meat fish and veggies. Then we kicked off the reception right after dinner. Despite the cold weather all the guests danced until 10 PM (our scheduled ending time).Mr. and Mrs. Gilroy and their guests had an absolutely amazing time with little or no regard to the cold that mother nature had provided that day. Most of the guests were from Bakersfield California and enjoy themselves thoroughly.

New Years Eve Wedding

December 31, 2009 New Years Eve wedding

Wedding for Michelle Cleveland, and Jorge Gonzalez

Venue: Hyatt Pier 66 Room: Panoramic Ballroom

First dance: I knew you were waiting (for me) – George Michael and Aretha Franklin

Bride/father dance: Have I told you lately - Rod Stewart

Groom/mother dance: What a wonderful world – Louis Armstrong

Last dance: You’re my first, my last, my everything – Barry White

Well happy New Year! What a great event this was! Congratulations to both Jorge and Michelle on their nuptials! The evening started on the terrace of Pier 66 just outside the Panoramic Ballroom. Tony Martelli entertained the hundred plus guests, by singing Frank Sinatra tunes. The hors d’oeuvres were not light, consisting of a pasta station, and more. Scott and his staff at Pier 66 always put on a good show. Keith Willard was in charge of this event and major props to his staff.

Once all the guests had moved inside the introductions started. Each person had their own individual song. The newlyweds came into the beat of Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. Inside there was no formal dinner, but there were stations around the room. Hundred table seats 140 guests. The idea was for the seating to be for the older people, everyone else was dancing because this party rocked! The menu inside included pasta station, a burger station, a grilled food station (shrimp, steak and chicken) and also included a whipped mashed potato station. Our event manager Keith handled everything in a timely manner. The event went from 8:30 PM until 1 AM.

Michele and George were recommended by a couple whom we were fortunate enough to be a part of their celebration. Chris and Michelle's wedding at the Hotel Sofitel in Miami was quite a bash! Michelle was in attendance it would have no other DJ but, yours truly and MB entertainment. A special thank you to both couples for letting us be a part of their celebrations. We look forward to seeing them and many other receptions.

December 29, 2009 Farah and Brad's wedding

This was a destination wedding, the guests were all from Wisconsin.

Farah and Brad's wedding was at the beautiful Coconut Cove Resort and Marina. What a beautiful setting for a wedding, could possibly be the most beautiful place on earth to get married. Paula and Magda always seem to put on a flawless event. The wedding ceremony started at 4 PM. Prelude music was played by Bob Lyons, steel drummer. Bob also played in the ceremony and cocktail hour. Our part of the evening started at 6 PM, we played an additional 30 minutes of cocktail hour music. Selections included Jimmy buffet and Alan Jackson.

I introduced the entire wedding party, including parents of the bride and groom. Farrah's mom came in very animated as did the rest of the wedding party to a special remix of I got a feeling by the Black Eyed Peas. After the introductions Farrah and Brad went through the buffet line. Dinner consisted of Caribbean style chicken, steamed veggies, a carving station, assorted bread rolls and pasta and side salads.

The couple danced their first dance after dinner to Shania Twain and Bryan White's "From This Moment." There were no parent dances, as they will do them at their reception in Wisconsin. Party and dance selections included a large variety of country music and today's top 40 selections. The dance floors packed throughout the night and they even extended for an extra hour of overtime. What a great couple and guests! I don't have a safe trip back to Wisconsin.

Becky and Doug!

Becky and Doug's wedding was rightly a unique event! The two married on October 25th at the Indian Riverside Park on the terrace overlooking the gorgeous bay. In junction with their laid back persona and casual attire the evening was a pleasure to work and guests were entertained minute by minute. Their musical selections included The Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia band for their first dance. The dance floor was rockin’ all night! Despite the unconventional music it was a lovely casual affair; Proving you can be easy going and break the rules to throw an incredible wedding!

October Sundy house wedding!

The Sundy house always makes for a beautiful venue and it held true yet again for another beautiful wedding. Kristi and Tim wed on October 17th at the Sundy with a breath taking poolside ceremony. They opened up the house doors and windows for an in and outdoor cocktail hour where guests flowed freely through the alluring property. I truly loved working with Kristi and Tim and am proud to be working with them again for a killer holiday party. Stay tuned!

Wonderful Wedding Weekend of October 11 & 12th!

We kicked off the weekend with another outstanding wedding. Samantha Helm and her beau, Brian, tied the knot at the gorgeous Coco Plum Women's Club on October 11, 2008. A breath taking cocktail hour in the lush courtyard set the pace for a grand evening. The classic father-daughter dance was anything but typical that night. Samantha and her father danced to a song originally recorded and sung by her grandmother; a true precious moment.

We finished off the weekend on the exquisite beaches of the Keys at the Coconut Cove Resort in Islamorada! The first dance captivated the audience with a spectacular fireworks show on the beach. Keeping with the couples upbeat fun loving persona, after they shared a story with me of a friend getting stuck in an elevator, it was decided that playing the song "Elevator" was a must. The newlyweds and guests in on the joke had a blast!!!

My Birthday Weekend (Yes my birthday is the 5th!)

Morning of October 3, 2008

We drove to Miami to see a venue, The Ronald W. Shane Center. We will be performing at a wedding on November 1, 2008 and a possible Bar Mitzvah, May 2009. The venue is beautiful and allows for lots of flexibility in decor and ambiance. There is an outdoor terrace for a cocktail hour or ceremony, there is also a wrap around veranda and one side faces the intercoastal. Thank you Rosie for taking the time to show us your venue, we really look forward to working there many times in the future.

A surprise 60th Birthday for Michelle at Sunset Harbor Yacht Club (http://www.sunsetharboryc.com/) in Daytona Beach put on by Barbara Doliner[blacktie108@yahoo.com] of Black Tie Entertainment. Sunset Harbor Yacht Club never ceases to amaze us with their courteous staff and awesome ballroom. This surprise party had close to 200 people in attendance and the surprise was kept by everyone! There were several food stations throughout the room; a carving station featuring turkey and ham, a greens station, a dipping station, a pasta station, dessert station, and a mashed potato martini station. Barbara Doliner, from Black Tie Entertainment puts on one heck of a shindig. Entertainment provided by yours truly, MB Entertainment. The evening was a success and fun was had by all. Special thank you to Sunset Harbor Yacht Club and staff. We stayed the night at the Courtyard Marriott, where the accommodations were great, the staff was friendly and thank you for a goodnight sleep!

Saturday October 4th...off to Coconut Cove in Islamorada.

This is an awesome destination for a
wedding! Paul and Magda Bates put on a heck of a show. The wedding was for Tina and Brent. The decor was very tropical & the ceremony was on the sand. The menu was a buffet of Lobstertail, Prime Rib, Mahi Mahi, and Jerk Chicken. Yummmy!!! After dinner and Toast it was back to the beach for the first dance. Surrounded by tiki torches and all their guests the happy couple danced to Keith Urban's "Making memories of us," while a fireworks show(Put on by Paul Bayes at Coconut Cove) lit up the night sky! It did not take long before the dancefloor got cranked up once again! The party despite being a 6 hour booking, went an additional 2 hours overtime! Wow, what a great party!

Thank you to Paul and Magda from Coconut Cove...You set the standard when it comes to awesome weddings in Islamorada!
